Essential Details About Vietnam Vets Donations

By William Fox

Vietnam veterans are soldiers who were serving the armed forces of the United States and the allied countries during Vietnam War. This includes who were stationed in Vietnam and those who were not as long as they were part of it. United States and the allied countries lost the war and had suffered heavy casualties during those battles.

This is why a lot of veteran soldiers are suffering now from disabilities that cannot make ends meet when they were discharged from their service. Some even are having PTSD or post traumatic stress disorder that makes it difficult for society readjustment. This is why the Vietnam vets donation is an important thing for people to do.

More or less fifty thousand veteran soldiers do not have somewhere they can sleep and call home and are always looking for places they can sleep for the night. This is due to them not having any family members of their own left or has been estranged from them. One common reason for being estranged is their problems for society readjustment.

One of the reasons of their difficulties is experiencing PTSD where one in every five vets are currently suffering from. This mental disorder is caused by the traumatic event they experienced such as the mentioned war. Symptoms include having disturbing feelings, dreams, or thoughts related with the causing traumatic event.

One other reason is the disability they have gotten from their time in the service of the armed forces that is making living difficult for them. The common disabilities among them is having dismembered limb or limbs requiring them to use wheelchairs or prosthetic in moving around. This is the reason vet centers were established to assist them.

Government services are available and is provided to them including benefits such as cash compensation if they were found to be eligible. The factors for their eligibility include injuries received, both mental or physical, during their service in the war. But these benefits are not enough specifically to those not found to be eligible enough so donations are needed.

Donations could come in different form, either financial or by kind, and is given to organizations that are dedicated to helping them. The donations you would give are not meant only for the veterans but also to the people who are living with them. Some examples of these are household items, clothing, electronic devices, toys, small furniture and toys.

Events are organized as well in raising funds for the programs of the organizations that are meant to help and provide services to those badly needing them. These include funding dedicated to medical treatment for injuries including medical devices and equipment such as prosthetic and wheelchairs. The events are how some of them reunite with the other veterans in updating about each other.

It is essential for people to extend a helping hand for those who needs the help after suffering from the bad effects of warfare particularly those that do not have anyone with them. Government should also do their part in providing better benefits to veterans in need.
