Survival is not hard but is not easy either especially in places that are known to be dangerous and poses lot of risks in one's life like in the jungle or wilderness or during emergency situations. Now what are the things that a person can do to ensure their survival in different situations? Basically, a person can make a checklist of what needs to be done in order for him/her to be equipped with the proper knowledge and skills needed for survival.

Below is a sample survival checklist that will help you to assess your level of preparedness for different emergency situations:

-Do you and all your family members know where to go and how to communicate in case that a disaster or calamity happens and you are not altogether in one place?

-For emergency situations, do you and your family have survival food and supplies storage not only in your home but as well as in places that you often stay like in the office, at school and in your vehicle?

-Is your emergency survival food and supplies storage complete with all the things necessary for survival such as food and water, emergency lights, first aid kit, matches, rescue signal like whistle, batteries, cash, clothing, sanitary items, blanket, candle and survival gears and will this last for at least a couple of days?

-Do you know where to go in emergency situations that requires you and your family to evacuate your house?

-Do you always make it a point that you are aware of the weather conditions in your area everyday and the possibility of different natural calamities to hit your place?

-Do you check your emergency survival food and supplies storage often to know if the contents are good and unexpired making sure that expired items are thrown away and replaced?

-Are you assured that your yard is free from potentially harmful objects and debris that may hit you in the event that a natural calamity like hurricane, tornado and thunderstorm happens?

-Do you avoid the possibility of your furniture and appliances falling off in case an earthquake happens by making sure they are anchored securely on the wall and on their places?

-Do you have an accessible list of important emergency disaster hotline numbers to dial?

-Are you and your family members able to use a compass and follow directions?

-Do you or anyone from your family know the basics in first aid technique in different emergency situations?

-Are you capable to use outdoor survival gears that is necessary if in case an animal may attack you or your companion?

Answering yes to most questions may mean that you are knowledgeable and is basically prepared to encounter emergency situations thus increasing you and your family's chance of survival. If you answered no to most questions, then it is time for you to be prepared and plan ahead for you to improve your chance of survival in any disaster and calamity situations.
