Why The Recycled Pallets California Firms Offer Are A Very Good

By Rosella Campbell

Pallets, made from a number of different materials, are not the cheapest thing a business can buy. They are, however, a necessary item to hold tools, equipment and parts as well as ingredients for the products each business makes. They are also used to ship those finished products to the distributors. One way to save some money is to purchase the recycled pallets California recyclers offer for sale.

The new handy items have a fairly mundane life span. The most common ones were made from virgin wood fibers of the least expensive sort. They are mass produced so that, even though there are a great number of different dimensions, each one is the same size and height in that particular run.

They are used for many things around the warehouse and in the production areas. They have slats across a system of stringers. The slats to set containers and things on and the stringers to provide strength and a space for fork lift forks to enter for lifting and moving around. The fasteners are usually nails and, occasionally, large staples or screws.

Outside was not a nice place for storage, however, these pallets were used for this. Often they were simply placed outside to store them. Most production facilities did not want to store this, inside, while they were empty. By being outside and subjected to the weather, heat, sun and, sometimes, rain, they broke down fairly quickly. As they became unusable, the recycling companies picked them up for processing.

Depending on the material they are fabricated from, the process can be fairly straight forward. Since recycling is the activity that causes something that is not usable to be made into something usable, the pallet must have several things done with and to it. Not the least of which is the classification of each one into what must be done to it to make it usable.

A wood pallet, when it comes in for recycling usually has broken slats which must be removed and replaced with another. The replacement can come from another pallet or from a supply taken from other units that did not have enough good material to rebuild. A stringer break will need a splice, alongside it, with a spare piece of wood.

Plastic, polyvinyl and or fiberglass units will need to be cleaned, thoroughly with a high pressure nozzle and detergent to remove any residue from chemicals. This is done to make the pallet as safe and clean as possible and to allow patches to be applied. Any holes in this otherwise stable unit will be patched with a special fiber and sealed over.

Recycling anything is a good idea. These types of tools are important enough that a lot has gone into keeping them clean and secure as well as making sure they can be put to use somewhere else. With the right recycling company doing it, they can be used over and over again.
