How Your Winter Layers Should Fit

Winter clothing can be fitted or loose for layering and can comprise of various elements and fits. Emphasise your body shape by using correctly the fit of your outerwear and winter clothing.

Your Neck- Your shirt collar and jacket shouldn't have a large gap when wearing a tweed jacket. Even when its fastened you should be able to breathe comfortably enough.

Torso- The body of your tweed jacket shouldn't be tight; it should allow you plenty of room so you can layer a sweater or other items of clothing underneath. That said it should also be as slim as possible.

Jacket Front- You should always be able to button your coat or jacket, and still have enough space between the jacket and your body to allow for full range of motion and layered clothing. When first putting on a jacket, try buttoning the button located just above your navel. You wont need to fasten buttons lower than that if the coat isn't cropped or unless you really need additional protection from cold.

Measure Shoulders- The concept behind men's tweed jackets and coats is the same as men's suits where you measure your shoulders to ensure the seams tie but you should measure over the items of clothing you will have on. This one little step ensures the perfect shoulder fit for your jacket.
