Understanding Basic Details Of Military Funeral Services

For most military families, receiving a knock at the door to reveal an individual in uniform is a shock as they receive the news about the passing of a loved one. All persons on duty regardless of rank are provided dignified transport arrangements. Military Funeral Services are different from traditional ceremonies as it delivers a number of formal processes and honors the sacrifices made by the deceased.

The deceased is handled with the utmost care including a flag draped coffin when moved back to their hometown. It will be transferred to a funeral home where the necessary preparations are put in place for the ceremony. The deceased will be placed in their uniform to indicate integrity and honor.

The person who has passed away is transported in the coffin with feet first while being honored and saluted at the different transfer locations. There is a great deal of time and focus placed on upholding the integrity of a deceased and the duties served. Numerous standardized measures are applied for those who have retired, been discharged honorably or have been killed in duty.

The casket will arrive covered in a flag including honor men to carry the coffin to the grave site. It is at this time that the pastor or appointed person will read a few passages in following the traditional process of a burial. A flag is presented and later folded to be provided for the family members in honoring the service and duty of the deceased.

If a private burial is to be held, the family will be offered an opportunity to receive the remains. Staff members can provide a standard burial with emphasis placed on honoring the person who has passed on. Such standards are applied regardless of how the individual had died.

The emphasis is on respect and honor throughout the burial process. The various standards that are implemented by the honor guards to ensure that all measures are followed. Personnel are available to tend to such ceremonies that should be offered by such facilities.
