An individual can use videos to learn how to hypnotize herself or himself. It is only possible when the subject wants to be hypnotized. You will not be asleep or unconscious. You will free your mind to enable full concentration on the words you hear. Plan ahead what you want to accomplish and use a phrase that relates to that topic. For example, repeat that cigarette smoke makes you nauseous if you are trying to stop smoking.

Start by concentrating on breathing in and out slowly. Shut out all other sounds or thoughts. You will be able to enter the state of deep relaxation.

There is no one correct way to practice self-hypnosis. It is a matter of trying a few ways and sticking to the one that works best. Relaxation and repetition are key.

Select a video in which a voice sounds pleasant to you. It will slowly and calmly give you directions about relaxation. Visualize the thing you want to accomplish, such as losing twenty pounds or stop gambling for two examples.

Say over and over that junk food makes you feel sick. As you breathe in and out, say it with each breath. By doing this, you can motivate yourself to reject unhealthy foods that are not good for you.
