Overcoming Tragedy And Trauma Codestiny Sheryl Sandberg

By Mark King

Most people go through challenging, difficult and sad times in life. When it comes to codestiny Sheryl Sandberg, it was the loss of a spouse while away from home in Mexico. Sheryl shares this story and others through the codestiny website and movement. In doing so, Ms. Sandberg has helped others become physically and mentally stronger following a tragedy or trauma by using the experience as a motivating force.

The movement, regardless of the type of trauma which one may have experienced has helped thousands of people. For, while losing a spouse or other loved one to death is extremely difficult, painful and depressing, there are other types of loss and struggles. As such, codestiny relates to any one whom has experienced any type of trauma such as accident, death of a loved, family related event, or end to a relationship.

In codestiny, the individual learns how to make difficult decisions without the assistance of others, especially when the assistance is unnecessary, unsought or unwanted. In addition, by getting rid of the people who drain energy by always taking from, and never giving to, a friendship or relationship, one can often move forward faster in the recovery process. For, it is not healthy to surround oneself with negative people at any time, though especially when attempting to overcome trauma.

Yoga, exercise routines, meditation and good hygiene are all important when it comes to facing a challenge head on. For, by staying fit in body and mind, an individual is often more aware of the positive and negative energies in the present. After which, the individual can work to let go of the negative energies such as disappointment and anger while focusing on the positive.

Getting involved in community activities, sports and other events can also be a way to focus on something other than the trauma. For, by focusing on something other than grief or pain, an individual overrides those feelings by focusing on the activity. Whereas, a local support group related to the trauma can often be a good way to learn how others were able to recover from the same or similar trauma.

The more people an individual know, the more likely the ability to find a job or start a career. For, networking is the new way of interviewing for a number of employers. Whereas, it also helps to have individuals to share a conversation, a meal, or a cup of coffee on a whim with someone familiar.

Networking with others in the community and exercise can also have additional benefits. For, not all people can fully recover from a tragic or traumatic experience. In fact, there are some people whom have panic attacks or go into fits when another individual mentions anything to do with the traumatic experience. While this is the case, when these individuals start to embrace oneself in the moment rather than whom one was in the past, life tends to become easier in the future.

A number of people, once having recovered from a trauma, sometimes feel it necessary to give back to others. Whether this be community, friends or acquaintances, especially the ones whom were there during the most difficult times, just the act of giving back can often calm body, mind and soul. In most cases, these individuals focus on groups and organizations which host community service events and volunteer jobs. For many, volunteering at an organization related to the type of trauma one experienced while talking to victims of all different types of trauma has helped more than a few get through the recovery process.
