Spiritual Centering In A Christian Church

By Rebecca Fox

The universe is vast. The majority of it cannot be comprehended by the naked eye and especially not while standing on a single planet. But in that vastness is power, and in that power, human being find meaning. Now, this meaning can be discerned in Christian church Wichita KS.

People worship for a multitude of reasons. For some, it is a habit, something their parents and surrounding community instilled in them at a young age and something they brought with them all their lives. Other believe that they may have experienced something spiritual, something that confirms the existence of their deity of choice. Others simply have heartfelt beliefs and wish to express those beliefs.

The unfortunate reality of the world is that there will always be individuals with a lust for power and no scruples. Not only do these people exist today, they have existed throughout all of history. The chronicles of humankind are littered with those who have manipulated the beliefs of people to their own ends.

Christianity is a religion. In fact, it is the one with the greatest number of practitioners. It began in what is now the Middle East, with a wandering preacher who was once a carpenter, who spread about a message of love and kindness. It is a direct descendant of Judaism, another monotheistic religion from the same region.

A church is a building. It is where the worship generally happens. They can ranger from unassuming buildings that look almost like houses to Gothic cathedrals that would put many palaces to shame, especially in the largest sect, which has its own nation state.

The sect with a nation state is Christianity and almost half of all of the followers in the world belong to it. For the longest time, it was the only sect around, and then several schisms happened around the Middle Ages. Now, depending on geographical location, some sects may be more prominent than others.

Each branch of the religion is going to have different focuses on the gospels left behind by the founder and the original disciples. However, across all of them will be the belief in a supreme being, the divinity of the carpenter, and the spreading of love, as love was the original message. Some will have a greater emphasis on punishing the guilty whereas others will focus greatly on reconciliation and forgiveness.

The reality is that there are unscrupulous individuals out there who look to take advantage of the religious beliefs that people may hold. Many of them will often ask for money and say that the deity they all worship says that the parishioners have to give it to the preacher in order to spread the message. Oddly enough, these preachers seem to forget that the carpenter whose footsteps they follow in often walked the desert on feet covered in nothing but simple sandals.

Whatever church is chosen, a follower needs to remember love. Love is the root of all Christianity. If not love, then at least common decency.
