Knowing What Is My Calling

By Kimberly Richardson

For one to know his purpose in life is already in itself a very beautiful feat because it is something very hard for most people to find. While a lot of people are looking for that perfect path in their lives, not everyone actually finds it. So for those stuck with the question of what is my calling, here are a few tips that can help.

When one would want to find his or her purpose, the first thing to do is to embrace the present and move to the future. One of the main reasons why some people cannot find their true vocation is simply because they cannot let go of their past. If one would really want to look toward the future, then the first thing to do is let go of all that heavy baggage from the past.

When one lets go of his or her past and accepts the present, one will then be more open to try new things. This is very much essential to looking for a true vocation. One thing to always remember is that the current path is not always the path that one will be taking on the rest of his or her life. So try many different things and maybe one of them will be the true purpose.

When one opens his or her horizons to new things, then he or she will also meet new people. Meeting new people is not just about having small talk or gaining new connections but it is rather about learning new lessons and gaining new insights. These insights can allow one to know how to better find out what he or she wants out of life.

Now if one has found a few activities that he or she enjoys and may think about making one a true vocation, then he or she has to have a why. The why is basically the reason he or she feels strongly about the activity in the first place. If the driving force is not strong enough, then it cannot be a vocation.

Likewise, a vocation must also be feasible. People who often dream about taking a certain path often get disappointed when they find out that the path they wanted is not feasible to do. So before a person chooses and solidifies a certain path, one must make sure that the path is first feasible and possible to achieve.

Finally, one has to tune into his or her head that a vocation is not necessarily limited to just one. It is actually possible for one to have many vocations. The only concern there is which one will be done first and which ones will be done later on.

Finding a true calling is very tricky because there are so many things to think about. However, one of the most important things to think about is always exiting the comfort zone. As mentioned above, it is very important that one exits his or her comfort zone to know where he or she has to go.
