Developing a new mentoring program is a good way to get yourself involved and make a valuable cooperation or contribution towards the community. There are many factors involved when creating a program and the best way to counter it is through planning ahead of time. To ensure they will become better citizens, developing youth mentoring programs is a great way to keep them follow a straight path for their careers.

When mentees ask s for your advice, offer them the right solutions. Allow the mentees to release bad emotions if they require to vent but also encourage them to think about their options. If can focus less on things they have no absolute control, then shift their attentions to areas where they power with. Focus on their actions, feelings, thoughts and decisions. Never get yourself stuck in a problem but instead find solutions.

Create a design for the parameters. Consider the number of people, gender, age, common characteristics and monitoring needs is necessary for the community. Ensure that the group that you will like to mentor is within your specialty. Make sure that you will feel comfortable with the people that needs mentoring.

Identify the people that will served as mentors. Mentors are essential for implementing any kind of program. However, hiring just anyone will cut out the job but instead look for professionals or experienced mentors who have done similar jobs before. For instance, youth needs guidance and prevention from doing bad deeds, then hiring a religious mentor will help addressed the problem and find them solutions.

Consider recruiting new volunteers. Volunteers can ask some colleagues, friends and family members who are willing to spend time with teens and have the same vision to become one. Individuals have a responsibility to reach out to other people who might possess the skills and vision the same way as they do. Do not hesitate to ask around for more information.

Give time to a mentee until they are prepared to share their personal information. Give them permission to share their information and other personal thought about themselves. Give them assurances that no matter what story they share, they will not face any criticism coming from you. Remember them they can share anything without having the fear to be judge.

The location where the sessions will occur is important. It is essential to make the location accessible to mentees and other potential mentees. For religious youth program, it would be best to do the sessions near churches or other religious areas. This will enhance the teachings much better compared to other sites.

Gather feedback from participants through focus groups and surveys. Individuals must conduct a survey or focus group to discover if there are any improvements after all. Gather all the participants and ask about their thoughts about it. Knowledge is power.
