Psalm 37:4

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart Psalm 37:4

This became our conversation subject earlier this Sunday at Church, and it's an excellent topic to handle here as well. Exactly how do you "delight yourself in the Lord"? Reply: it is actually by using prayer! He likes us to visit Him with our issues and struggles, desires and plans. Individuals pray for a lot of completely different reasons- and the awesome thing about it is there is no "right or wrong" method! Regardless of whether you pray at night, at Church, 12 times each day or once daily. Pray for advice, pray as thanks, pray for anything that is in your soul!

Prayer is less about receiving something and more about changing into something.

Prayer is actually what improves your bond with God. It's what brings you closer. The more you trust Him with, and the more you rely upon Him, the more He will trust in you. It can be challenging to place everything before God and trust in His plan for you- particularly when it's not the same plan you may have for yourself!

Our pastor offered the scenario that his wife's mother was dying of cancer. They prayed and prayed for her to be healed of her cancer. She was cured- however in the Kingdom of Heaven. Not the "solution" or "cure" that these folks were searching for- but she was healed and relieved of her suffering.

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will provide you with the dreams of heart. You pray for finances- it might come in the shape of an opportunity. Pray for your wife or husband to transform- you may be granted more tolerance. You may not be prepared to change others- but God can present you with skills, opportunities, resources and dreams to nurture yourself and help you to rise above those challenges.

Provide a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for years to come.
